American Sculptor | Contemporary Porcelain Sculpture | Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts
Anna Kasabian is an award-winning American artist whose hand-formed porcelain sculptures explore the rhythms and delicate structures of the natural world. Inspired by ocean waves, sea plants, and heirloom flowers, she creates wall and tabletop works distinguished by flowing contours, remarkably thin edges, and luminous white surfaces.
Before developing her sculptural practice, Kasabian established a career as a writer, authoring hundreds of articles and numerous books focused on interior design. She began working in ceramics in 2003 and turned exclusively to porcelain in 2010. Her sculptures have since entered private collections and been commissioned for hotels and residential spaces across the United States and abroad.
Artistic Approach
Kasabian shapes each sculpture by hand, allowing the material to develop through an intuitive dialogue between movement, balance, and form. Working directly with porcelain gives her the freedom to create intricate folds and organic curves while pushing the material toward exceptional thinness and translucency.
Her practice moves between abstraction and recognizable botanical forms. Some works suggest an unfolding flower, while others evoke the crest of a wave or the movement of an underwater landscape. Many take their names from heirloom flowers or coastal places that hold personal meaning.
White is central to her visual language. It allows light and shadow to reveal the sculpture’s changing contours, bringing attention to every fold, opening, and turn. In her wall compositions, individually formed elements come together in layered arrangements that extend into the surrounding space.

Collections & Commissions
Kasabian’s commissioned work includes installations for The Boca Raton in Florida, LondonHouse Chicago, and the residential tower at 77 Greenwich Street in Manhattan.
For The Boca Raton, she created Take to the Sea, a composition of ten porcelain wall panels incorporating more than one thousand individually formed wave elements. The project demonstrates how her intimate, handmade forms can develop into substantial architectural installations.
Her practice also includes bespoke commissions developed with interior designers, art consultants, and private collectors.
Press & Publications
Kasabian’s porcelain practice has been featured in Architectural Digest, Northshore, The FLUX Review, and Indiewalls.
Architectural Digest’s 2019 feature explored the natural inspirations behind her sculptures and their inclusion in Holly Hunt’s artisan collection. Northshore examined the fluidity of her hand-built forms, while interviews with The FLUX Review and the Copley Society of Art offered insight into her materials, process, and artistic development.
Art in the Interior
Kasabian’s sculptures introduce dimension, texture, and a sense of movement into an interior. Her wall compositions create a sculptural focal point, while freestanding works offer changing views across a console, pedestal, or tabletop.
The predominantly white palette allows the forms to engage with surrounding materials and shifting light. Whether presented individually or as a multi-panel composition, her porcelain brings a quiet yet expressive presence to residential and hospitality spaces.
Custom wall and tabletop commissions may be discussed through AVRA Gallery.
