“The Eye of Truth”
The title comes from the Latin Oculum Veritatis, meaning “The Eye of Truth.” In this work, the gaze becomes the primary witness to a person’s inner life. What we try to conceal through words, gestures, or appearance ultimately reveals itself through the eyes.
In Nik Kruglove distinctive visual language, contemporary figurative art, Cubism, Surrealism, and Expressionism come together in a layered portrait. The enlarged eye becomes the focal point of the composition and a symbol of inner truth, observation, and self awareness.
The work reflects on how difficult it is to hide one’s true state when the eyes speak before words do.
